PROJECT PROFILE ON SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY PARK

  

INTRODUCTION

 

Information technology is emerging as a dominant force triggering fast track economic growth. It is through information technology that the country is poised for a economic revolution.

The level of software activity, growing at an compound annual growth rate of around 50% for the last 5 years, has reached a level of Rs. 16.00 crores during the year 1998-99.  

   

STP SCHEME & STPI

 

Software Technology Park (STP) scheme is a 100% export oriented scheme for the development and export of computer software using data communication links or in the form of physical media including export of professional services. This scheme is unique in its nature having focus on product/ sector i.e. computer software.

For implementing the STP scheme. Government of India has established Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) an autonomous organisation under the administrative control of Department of electronics (DOE)during 1991. STPI has established Software technology Park Complexes at Pune, Banglore, Bhubeneshwar, Hyderabad, Noida (near new Delhi) Ahmedabad/ Gandhinagar, and Thiruvanathapuram for serving the member Industries operating under STP scheme in these regions.

Those STPs are 1005 export oriented support centers for the member software units. However, the unique feature of this scheme is the provisioning of Single Point Contact services to the member units enabling them to conduct the export operations at standards commensurate with international practices.

  

APPROVAL 

  

Setting up of an STP unit would need clearance/ approval from STP/IMSC (Inter Ministerial Standing Committee) of Govt. of India to enable the units under this project to get the incentives and benefits available under the STP scheme.

Govt. of U.P. though its IT Policy for U.P. has endeavouring to provide well developed infrastructure in the form of Software Technolgy Park at Noida/ Dehradun, Moradabad, Moradabad, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad & Varanasi in Joint Sector.

Government has also made provision to provide equality participation for these STP's.

  

COST OF THE STP PROJECT

 

An indicative cost of STP project housing 30 units, occupying an average space of 100 sq. mtrs par company with common facilities like Conference Hall, Auditorium for 200 persons, Central Air Conditioning, Standby Power Supply, Restaurant, Business Center has been envisaged at Rs. 1379 lakhs.

Datacom Links are proposed to be provided by STPI, Noida, as it is understood that sufficient capacity exist with STPI, Noida, for servicing units anywhere in U.P. Details of cost of the project are as below:-
